Gutwald

Cathrin Gutwald joined the Corporate Communications of Wyss Zurich in September 2016. Before joining Wyss Zurich, Cathrin Gutwald served as International Communications Manager at the Jacobs Foundation in Zurich, Switzerland, and as Corporate Communications Manager for Dr. Zwissler Holding AG in Munich, Germany. Previously she spent nearly ten years at the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum (HNF) in Paderborn, Germany, as Head of Executive Development and Training and Head of Education, Media and Culture. In these functions she developed seminars, conferences and lecture series and edited publications on subjects related to the influence of information technology on man and society at large. She was also responsible for creating, implementing and running a platform for management training in the fields of e-business, technology trends and competency development. Cathrin Gutwald holds master’s degrees in Art History, Communication Sciences and Market and Consumer Psychology from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany, and a diploma in Design from the Köln International School of Design in Cologne, Germany.

Stefanie Hynek
Corporate Communications

Hynek

Stefanie Hynek joined the Corporate Communications of Wyss Zurich in December 2018. She is dedicated to supporting Wyss Zurich itself as well as its projects in all aspects of communication. Before joining Wyss Zurich, she spent seven years at Digitec Galaxus AG, where she was able to build up and manage the corporate communications of both brands. Stefanie then deepened her project management skills at Rufener Events Ltd, an international creative agency focusing on live communication. As a woman of action, she also has eight years of experience in crisis communication, team building, and various consulting and mediation functions. Stefanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Communication Sciences from the University of Lucerne.

Patrick Leuthard
Finance & Administration

Leuthard

Patrick Leuthard joined the Finance & Administration of Wyss Zurich in July 2016. Prior to joining Wyss Zurich, Patrick Leuthard served Tecan as the Head Finance & Controlling of the Life Science Business. Previously, he spent more than nine years at Siemens Building Technologies, most recently as Head Business Administration, from 2010 to 2013. In this position, he designed, developed and implemented various initiatives that helped maintain sound financial performance. Earlier in his career, he worked at KPMG as a Senior Consultant from 2001 to 2004 and at UBS as a Corporate Controller from 1999 to 2000. Patrick Leuthard is a Swiss Certified Expert in Accounting and Controlling. He holds an Executive MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Sina Reckel
Project Coordination

Reckel

Sina Reckel joined the Project Coordination of Wyss Zurich in November 2018. She acts as a point of contact for new project applications, coordinates the evaluation and annual review processes, and supports the active project teams in their day-to-day operations. Sina obtained her biochemistry degree and PhD at the Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. Prior to joining Wyss, she spent several years as a postdoctoral researcher at EPFL Lausanne investigating molecular mechanisms of cancer and possible treatment regimens. In this position, Sina coordinated research collaborations and obtained insights into the clinical requirements for academic discoveries. As an active member of the EPFL SV Postdoc Association, Sina managed events to stimulate the exchange between academic researchers and life science industry.

Nadine Truyol
Communications & Events Coordinator

Truyol

Nadine Truyol joined Wyss Zurich in December 2019. Her areas of responsibility are events and communications, including assisting various projects with their communications efforts. Nadine studied Art and Design Communication at Zurich University of the Arts, where she received her B.A. in Art and Design Communication. She earned a master’s degree in Design Management and Cultures at University of the Arts London in 2018, where she gained expertise in innovation processes and qualitative research. Before joining Wyss Zurich she worked in the live marketing industry, focusing on project management and creation. Nadine also serves as a volunteer for the NGO “Engineers Without Borders Switzerland” with responsibility for communications. Her main interests are social change and innovation.

Melanie Wiesel
Project Coordination

Wiesel

Melanie Wiesel has joined the Project Coordination Wyss Zurich in 2015. In her role, she is responsible for the project evaluation process as well as the coordination of running projects. Melanie Wiesel is also responsible for IP-related matters of the projects and the IP strategy of the Center. Prior to joining Wyss Zurich, she was a Technology and Licensing Manager at ETH Transfer (technology transfer office of ETH Zurich), where she was responsible for life science technology evaluation, IP counseling, IP management and out-licensing. Melanie Wiesel obtained her “Diplom” in Biology from the University of Regensburg (Germany) and her PhD in Viral Immunology from ETH Zurich. She has conducted postdoctoral research in the pharmaceutical industry, at the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, in the area of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Melanie is a member of swiTT (Swiss Technology Transfer Association).
