The EIT Health Start-up Rescue Instrument directly contributes to the European Union’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. From minute 3:14 onwards, in the broadcast, the team of SwissProsthetics had a few minutes of fame. Tele Züri was on-site when Liana, a girl born with only one arm, was able to try on her new prosthesis. Furthermore, Lukas Schiller, the Product Engineer at SwissProsthetics, outlined the production steps of Liana's Prosthesis. Liana was accompanied by her father, and the Bionicman, Michel Fornasier, who acts as an advisor for SwissProsthetics. Thanks to the pink prosthesis with rainbow and unicorns donated by SwissProsthetics, Liana can now ride her favorite bicycle and swim with her new hand modules. The by Swissnex China organized virtual pitching competition is spotlighting 20 Swiss deep tech startups and their ground-breaking technologies. The platform aims to provide game-changing partnerships with investors, mentors, experts, potential business partners, and a highly engaged audiences. Startups are usually able to pitch their ideas at the International CES (Shanghai) Exhibition. Given the current situation, the trip was canceled. This year they will have the chance to do this at the pitchinar. Wyss Zurich wishes both projects successful pitching. The program is still available as a customized school program. For two weeks the program was online for the public and consisted of one broadcasted challenge per day, published on the mint & pepper’s website and Instagram. The challenges are about experiencing daily tasks differently and better understanding how people who are blind, moving in a wheelchair or walking with prosthetic legs, execute these tasks. The next step is to test the protective membrane in patients.
