hemotune, a medtech startup incubated at the Wyss Zurich, develops a radically new medical device for the purification of blood in acute care. After the successful completion of a three stage entrepreneurial path with Venture Kick, hemotune was now selected to receive a funding of 130.000 CHF.
“The product developed by hemotune has been considered as very promising as it can substantially improve the process of blood filtration compared to existing solutions”, says Patrick Biro, Program Manager Venture Kick. “It is solving a real problem that would benefit many people the day it becomes available.”
With its so-called Magnetic Blood Purification hemotune selectively removes harmful substances from the blood of a patient based on highly magnetic nanoparticles. hemotunes first focus lies on crafting an efficient therapy for patients with sepsis, a devastating condition causing 6 million deaths worldwide every year.
“Venture Kick helped us to grow on all areas linked to our business”, explains Lukas Langenegger, Project Leader of hemotune. “Making it to the final stage of the program was not easy, but it got us prepared for the challenges ahead.”
